Taking inspiration from the rhythms and patterns of tidal estuaries, a sinuous ribbon of stone embedded underfoot weaves from the museum鈥檚 atrium through the garden, encouraging visitors to explore further. Three garden rooms鈥攖he Native garden, the Asiatic garden, and the Hybrid Convergence garden鈥攔eference the geographical diversity of the museum鈥檚 collection and echo the spirit of cultural exchange at the heart of the museum鈥檚 mission.

Water flows through additional ribbons of stone that embellish raised, planted beds in the central garden room, activating the space with the aural qualities of water and offering another connection to the museum鈥檚 origins.
